Lindi Close obtained a bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Alberta, working at the Stollery Children’s hospital Neonatal ICU before moving to Vancouver, where she worked at BC Women’s Hospital as a NICU nurse and Senior Practice leader. Lindi obtained a masters of health leadership and policy from UBC with a focus on sustainable healthcare, including a project supporting Nourish with integrating planetary health menus into Ontario health facilities. Lindi has worked in supporting nurses in learning about and integrating planetary health principles into their clinical areas as the co-developer and facilitator of the BC Cancer Planetary Heath Nursing Internship Program (PHNIP) and co-author of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Position Statement on Planetary Health. Lindi is currently working as a research nurse with the BC Cancer Research Institute (BCCRI) and is passionate about advancing equitable healthcare that is accessible for all, delivered through an anti-racist, trauma-informed lens with the goal of improving patient outcomes while simultaneously decreasing the environmental impacts of cancer care delivery. She believes that cancer care and planetary health work should be rooted in a genuine commitment to decolonization and reconciliation including supporting the advancement of Indigenous sovereignty of knowledge, food, and land.
