Intellectual Property

“Intellectual Property” means all intellectual property rights recognized by law, including but not limited to intellectual property rights protected through legislation.

Materials created by CASCADES are shared under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) and you may use these materials according to the terms and conditions of the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

Suggested attribution

Where our materials are being reproduced (for example, in a screenshot) or cited a as reference, this should be done using the citation style of choice and listing the document authors, CASCADES (Creating a Sustainable Canadian Health System in a Climate Crisis) as publisher, the access date and URL.

Where our materials are being adapted (e.g. modified to make a tailored version for implementation in a specific setting), a note should be added that includes:

  • A link to the original publication
  • Indication that the new version is also shared under a Creative Commons attribution, non-commercial, share-alike licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

The fine print

Under the terms and conditions of our Funding Agreement, the University of Toronto (UofT) grants Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) a non-exclusive, unconditional, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to exercise all Intellectual Property Rights that vest in UofT for any public purpose except commercial exploitation in competition with UofT, including the right to use, produce, publish, translate, reproduce, adapt, modify, disclose, share, distribute, and broadcast the Intellectual Property.

Any intellectual property developed jointly by CASCADES and its Partners is jointly owned by the Partners. Inventorship is determined according to Canadian patent law, whether the Intellectual Property is patentable or not. 

ECCC has a non-exclusive right to use any intellectual property created by UofT including materials and products created in partnership with others.
